1) Allergenicity

  As a result of genetic engineering of transgenic plants, the possibility that we might see an increase in the number of allergic reactions to food.  However, there is no evidence so far that genetically engineered foods are more likely to cause allergic reactions than are conventional foods. A 1996 report in New England Journal of Medicine found that soybeans containing a gene from the B razil nut could trigger an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to Brazil nut.
